Coronavirus Outbreak: With 53,601 cases in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally tops 22.68 lakh cases

With over 53,601 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 count on Tuesday crossed the 22..68 lakh-mark, while the death toll has crossed the 45,000-mark as well.

At 9:30 AM on this day, the COVID-19 tally in the country has reached 22,68,676 cases, which include 6,39,929 active cases; 15,83,490 cured, discharged, or migrated patients, and 45,257 deaths.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as many as 53,601 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, marking a significant spike.

Total coronavirus cases in the worst-hit state of Maharashtra has climbed to 4,90,262.

Maharashtra is followed by Tamil Nadu with 2,85,024 cases. The state crossed Delhi to take up second place in the list due to a recent massive surge in the number of cases.

Andhra Pradesh is third on the list with 2,17,040 cases.

After Andhra Pradesh comes Karnataka, where the COVID-19 figure stands at 1,64,924 cases with 84,232 patients recovered, and 2,998 fatalities. National capital Delhi has reported 1,44,127 cases of which 1,29,362 have recovered and 4,098 patients are dead.

Uttar Pradesh has reported 1,18,038 positive cases so far of which 69,833 patients have recovered and 2,026 patients have lost their lives due to the virus. In West Bengal, as many as 89,666 people have confirmed COVID-19, of which 63,060 recovered and 1,954 people succumbed to it.

In Kerala, which reported the country’s first COVID-19 case, 33,120 people have been detected positive for coronavirus so far.

The Government of India said that India has now 28.21% active cases, 69.80% cured/discharged/migrated, and 1.99% deaths.
