With over 28k new cases, COVID-19 cases in India at nearly 8.5 lakh

India has been grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic for over six months now. After over two months of intense lockdown, the country opened up in a phased manner from June 8 and people are getting used to the new normal. Some states are continuing to see a rise in coronavirus patients and continue to enforce restrictions.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of cases reported in India as of 10.30 am on July 12 stands at 8,49,553 with 28,937 new cases in the past 24 hours.
In India, 2,92,258 patients are still under treatment. A total of 5,34,621 patients have recovered. With 551 deaths in 24 hours, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 stands at 22,674 as per government data.
Here are the numbers as of 10.30 am on July 12:
— In Tamil Nadu, 1,34,226 people have tested coronavirus positive till date, of which 46,410 are under treatment. A total of 85,915 people have been discharged, and 1,898 people have died due to the disease. On July 11, 3,965 new cases were reported in the state.
— Karnataka has reported 36,216 coronavirus cases in total, and 20,883 people are under treatment. A total of 14,716 patients have been discharged, and the state has reported 613 deaths. The state recorded 2,798 new cases on July 11.
— Kerala has reported a total of 7,438 coronavirus positive patients, of which 3,442 are active. 3,963 people have recovered, and there have been 30 deaths. The state reported 488 new cases on July 11.
— Andhra Pradesh has reported 27,235 coronavirus cases, and 12,533 patients are still under treatment. While 14,393 have recovered and 309 deaths have been reported. On July 11, 1,813 new cases were reported
— Telangana has reported 33,402 cases till date, of which 12,135 people are still under treatment. 20,919 people have recovered and 348 have died. The state recorded 1,178 new cases on July 11.
— Maharashtra has reported 2,46,600 cases, of which 99,202 are undergoing treatment. While 1,36,985 patients have been discharged after recovery, and 10116 people have passed away. The state reported 8,139 cases on July 11.
