Kanpur encounter case: Close aide of Vikas Dubey, Shyamu Bajpai arrested

The notorious criminal of Uttar Pradesh Vikas Dubey`s aide Shyamu Bajpai has been arrested after an encounter with the UP police.

He carried a reward of Rs 25,000, the police informed.

The police have seized a gun and two live cartridges from the possession of the accused.

A case has been filed against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Shyamu Bajpai was one of the main accused in the Kanpur encounter case in which eight policemen were killed on July 3.

Earlier today, Amar Dubey, the close aide of history-sheeter Vikas Dubey, has been killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Hamirpur on Wednesday.

Sources have stated that UP STF killed Amar in coordination with the local police unit in Hamirpur. 

UP government has increased the reward on providing information about the whereabouts of gangster Vikas Dubey to Rs 5 lakh. Earlier, the reward was Rs 50,000, which was increased to 1 lakh and now it has been hiked to Rs 5 lakh.

“3 men arrested by police in Faridabad after they along with crime branch raided a house on receiving inputs on presence of Vikas Dubey. There was brief firing by criminals, pistol used by Dubey during Kanpur incident and one pistol stolen from UP Police recovered,” Faridabad police stated.

A police team has reached Vikas Dubey’s village to search the well inside the gangster’s house.

Currently, a search operation is underway for Dubey in Kanpur encounter case, in which a group of assailants allegedly opened fire on a police team which had gone to arrest him. Eight policemen were killed in the incident.

Last week, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered during a search operation from the residence of Vikas Dubey.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier announced Rs 1 crore each ex-gratia for the families of the policemen who were killed in the Bikaru village encounter.
