Actor Khushbu Sundar will contest in Tamil Film Producers Council elections, announced actor Vishal, who was recently suspended from the body.
Vishal, who is also general secretary of the Nadigar Sangam, made the announcement on Twitter and said she would contest for the post of president.

Speaking to The News Minute, Khushbu, however, said, “I thank Vishal and team for showing some trust in me for this huge responsibility. I am looking into it. I haven’t said yes or no. It depends on how much time I will have.”
The tenure of the present Producers Council has come to an end and elections are scheduled for February 5. The Producers council is presently headed by V Creations’ Kalaipuli S Thanu. The other office bearers include Amma creations’ T Siva, Five star Kadhiresan, and PL Thenappa Radhakrishnan.
The February elections is expected to see several teams putting up contestants. Vishal and team are expected to announce candidates for other positions soon, said a press release.
Vishal was suspended from the Tamil Film Producers Council in November for criticising the functioning of its office bearers in an interview to a Tamil magazine. Vishal had expressed surprise following the news of his suspension.
“I am surprised that a casual statement of mine was taken so seriously. I did not receive any official communication from the producer council regarding my suspension. Actually, it should have been informed to me first and then to the press. But here the situation is vice versa,” he had stated in November.
Soon after his suspension, Vishal told reporters that he would form a team to contest in the upcoming elections, just as they done in the Nadigar Sangam.
“It will be again a team of youngsters like Nadigar Sangam and we will garner the support of young producers, actor-turned-producers and director-turned-producers to form a team and contest in the elections,” he had stated.
