Total number of positive coronavirus cases have risen to 384 in Delhi, 259 attended Markaz event: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday that the total number of positive coronavirus cases have risen to 384. Out of the 384 cases, 58 patients have a history of foreign travel, and 259 people had attended the Markaz event in Delhi.

“Out of these 384 cases, 58 patients have a history of foreign travel. Many of them are not from Delhi but were quarantined here in Delhi. 259 people, out of them, had attended Markaz event,” Kejriwal said in a press conference.

“There has been a rise of 91 cases in the last 24 hours,” Kejriwal said.

He further said that 58 people who have a foreign travel history further infected 38 members of their families.  

Delhi Chief Minister informed that there are only 38 cases of local transmission and that the situation is still under control in Delhi. He further said that 5 people have died in Delhi so far due to coronavirus out of which one died on Friday. The dead person attended the religious congregation in Nizamuddin.

He also informed that 328 relief centres have been set up to accommodate 57,000 people.

“We have prepared 328 relief centres to accommodate 57,000 people. Anyone can come to these relief centres and stay here. We will take care of them,” Kejriwal said.

Earlier Kejriwal said that people told to home quarantine themselves are being tracked through their phone numbers.

“We handed over a list of 11084 phone numbers to police yesterday & 14345 phone numbers today of people who have been asked to remain in home quarantine. The police will track if they are following the instructions on home quarantine or not,” Kejriwal said.

In India, the total number of positive cases has reached up to 2301.
