36 new COVID-19 cases reported in 24 hours, total climbed to 2301: Health Ministry

The Union Health Ministry on Friday announced that there have been 336 new cases of COVID-19 in the country since yesterday (Thursday), adding that 12 deaths have been recorded yesterday.

“From yesterday till today 336 additional cases of #COVID19 have come before us. Total confirmed cases are 2301, 56 deaths have been reported,” Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary Health Ministry, stated.

“12 of these 56 deaths were reported yesterday. A total of 157 patients have recovered so far,” he added.

Providing an update on the Nizamuddin incident, he said that in the last 2 days, around 647 confirmed cases related to it have been found in 14 states.

“If we look at cases related to Tableeghi Jamaat, in last 2 days around 647 confirmed cases related to it found in 14 states-Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Delhi, Himachal, Haryana, J&K, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand & UP,” Lav Agarwal.

Moreover, he expressed concern over obstacles put up by patients towards doctors treating them and certain media reports which claimed that patients misbehaved with patients & their families

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that it has written a letter to the state government urging them to take strict action in cases of attack on healthcare & frontline workers.

It also informed that two more helpline numbers have been issued for COVID-19 related issues-1930 (all India tollfree number) and 1944 (dedicated to Northeast).

“There were seven helpline numbers in the control room of the Union Home Ministry. Now, we have introduced two more helpline numbers – 1930 (all India tollfree number) & 1944 (dedicated to Northeast),” Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Home Ministry stated.
