You can soon order burger, pizza, biryani in train through IRCTC’s ‘Khushiyon Ki Delivery’ service

Passengers of the Indian Railway will soon be able to order their favourite food from 700 vendors, including from Domino’s and Subway.

Under an initiative named ‘Khushiyon Ki Delivery’, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has partnered with 700 vendors who will deliver food items to passengers at about 350 stations across the country.

The decision has been taken to improve the present e-catering facility business.

Some of the vendors include Domino’s, Subway, Biryani Blues, Haldirams, Sarvana Bhawan, Nirulas and Faasos.

Even though only 350 stations have been selected to deliver the services, the IRCTC claims that almost all trains and routes are being covered through these stations.

The ‘Khushiyon Ki Delivery’ initiative is being launched as IRCTC saw tremendous growth in the e-catering business in the last year.

The e-catering app is receiving around 21,000 food orders daily from the earlier figure of just 8,000 food orders per day. With the upgrade, the IRCTC now aims to get 1 lakh orders per day.

With the IRCTC earning a commission or 12%, the commercial arm of Indian Railways is currently earning around Rs 8-9 crore annually and aims to enhance its earning by at least 100% in a year.

Besides upgrading its e-catering services, it is also improving the pantry car of all trains. They are being modernised with better cooking technology, equipment and storage space.

The Railways PSU, which was recently listed on the stock market, is also planning to install CCTV cameras in all base kitchens so a tab can be maintained on the quality of food and hygiene.

Apparently, Railways will put a QR code on every food packet so that you can get the live feed of the kitchen by scanning the QR code.
