Chennai man steals bike, parks it back at same spot as CCTV footage goes viral

The Pallikkaranai police in Chennai have registered an FIR against an unknown person for stealing a bike, based on a complaint from the owner of the bike. However, the bizarre aspect of the incident is that the thief parked the stolen bike back at the same spot from where he had stolen it two days ago.

According to reports, Karthik owns and manages a dance school in Jayachandran Nagar in Pallikkaranai. He goes to his dance class every day and returns home at night only after all the sessions get over. On Tuesday, around 11 pm, Karthik came out of the class to see his bike missing from the spot outside the building where he had parked it. Intrigued by the theft, he decided to scour through the footage recorded on the CCTV camera installed nearby on a commercial building by the side of the road and found that a man had stolen his bike on Tuesday night.

The CCTV footage, which went viral on social media, shows a man talking over the phone at around 10.30 pm standing near the bike. He is seen hovering around the bike for half an hour, seemingly talking over the phone and around 11pm, he rides away with the bike after making sure nobody is around to notice him. Karthik submitted the CCTV footage to Pallikkaranai police and filed a complaint, based on which the police registered an FIR. Meanwhile, he also uploaded the CCTV footage on social media, which went viral.

On Thursday morning, however, Karthik was in for a surprise. As he reached his dance class, he saw his bike standing at the same spot where he usually parks in front of the building. Karthik then informed the police about his bike being returned. However, the police are still on the lookout for this mystery man and suspect that the man might have returned the bike since the video went viral.
