Chennai horror: Couple find baby dead on arrival from Australia

In a tragic case, a young couple from Chennai, returning from Australia, found their six-month-old baby dead on arrival at the airport. According to reports, the couple realised that their baby had become motionless upon arrival at the Chennai airport. They reportedly approached the airport authorities who arranged for medical help. The infant was declared dead.

According to one report in The Hindu, Sakthi Murugan (32) and Deepa (27) work as software industry professionals in the Australian city of Melbourne. They had arrived in Chennai via Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to visit their parents in Chennai. They were travelling along with their six-month-old son Hrithik.

With the baby in his mother’s arms, the couple completed their arrival formalities and cleared immigration. However, as they were waiting to collect their baggage, reportedly realised that the infant was unconscious. The child, who reportedly showed turned motionless, was said to be blue and cold.

According to a police official, the parents, who were about to leave for their parents’ home in Vengaivasal near Tambaram on the outskirts of the city, reportedly thought that the child was asleep.

With attempts to revive the child unsuccessful, the parents rushed him to the clinic inside the international terminal of the airport, the police official told Hindustan Times. Sadly, the child was declared dead by the doctors on duty at the clinic. The parents reportedly informed authorities that the child had been active and was even playing during the duration of the flight via Malaysia.

The police secured the baby’s body to conduct a post mortem at the Government Hospital at Chrompet even as they registered a case. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
