Two medical students from PSG Medical College, Coimbatore, are under scrutiny after a possible mismatch between the photo on their NEET card and their appearance in person. A report about the two students has been sent by the college to the Director of Medical Education and the Vice Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

Across Tamil Nadu, medical colleges have begun conducting verification of students after a student in Theni medical college was found to be involved in an alleged case of impersonation. The student Udit Surya’s appearance did not match the photo on his NEET documents, raising suspicions over the validity of his admission.

Speaking to the media, the dean of PSG Medical college Ramalingam said, “Following a possible admission scam that broke out in Theni Medical college, we were asked by Director of Medical education to compare and verify the picture the students had stuck on various forms and the candidate in person. There was a possible mismatch. It is too soon to say it was indeed a mismatch. The mismatch was between the NEET card and the candidate in person. Therefore we have sent a report as instructed by the Director of Medical Education and the Vice Chancellor. It is now up to them to take it up further and investigate.”

According to reports, the two students – a male and female, were summoned to the Directorate of Medical Education’s office in Kilpauk, Chennai. Following this, it was determined that the male student had used an old picture and had proved that he wasn’t involved in any illegal practice. The female student is still under scrutiny.

Meanwhile, the CB-CID apprehended Udit Surya along with his family, from a hideout in Tirupati and brought him to Chennai on Wednesday. The dean of the Theni medical college was tipped off on the alleged impersonation after he received e-mails regarding the possible illegal activity.
