Forces launch op in Kashmir's Shopian, militants 'reportedly' escape

A joint operation between the army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, which was launched against militants night in Chilli Pora village of Shopian district, ended on Saturday.

The militants have reportedly escaped.

The gunfight started after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation after it received information about the presence of militants.

Three soldiers and a woman were killed when militants ambushed an army patrol in Shopian area of south Kashmir on Thursday.
