Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who travelled to Pokhran to observe Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s first death anniversary, on Friday said the nuclear test was a reflection of the former Prime Minister resolve to make India a nuclear power and yet remain firmly committed to the doctrine of ‘No first use’.
“India has strictly adhered to this doctrine. What happens in future depends on the circumstances,” he tweeted. The minister did not clarify on his cryptic tweet about the future.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee died last year on August 16 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a prolonged illness. He was 93.
