With no Religious Bias, Mohd Sharif Has Cremated 25000 Unclaimed Bodies

Sharif says politicians have nothing to do with Hindus and Muslims. They just don’t help people in need or who are dead.

Faizabad: At a time when the politicians are trying their best to polarise people on religious lines in view of UP Assembly elections, the 80-year-old Mohd Sharif is doing every bit to preserve communal harmony by giving a dignified burial or cremation to unclaimed bodies in Faizabad.

What prompted Sharif was the tragedy that struck him post demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992.

Mohd Sharif lost his 24-year-old son Mohd Rais Khan, who had just passed out of a medical college, got killed in communal riots post 1992 and since then he decided to work for dead people who have noone to cremate them.

“We are first human beings. We have same blood. I don’t discrimnate between Hindus and Muslims when it comes to cremate or bury the bodies,” Sharif tells CNN-News18.

Sharif says politicians have nothing to do with Hindus and Muslims. They just don’t help people in need or who are dead.

Known as ‘Chacha’ Sharif by locals, he has cremated over 25,000 unclaimed bodies irrespective of any hindu-Muslim discrimnation.
