3-year-old murdered, body found in dumpyard

Less than two weeks after protests in Mugalivakkam over the molestation and murder of a seven-year-old child, another similar case of brutality has come to light in the state, reports the Times of India.

A three-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted and murdered by an unknown assailant near Thiruvottiyur in Saturday.

The child’s body was found in the dumpyard on Sunday, with signs of torture, according to the New Indian Express.

According to the report, the girl was last seen playing near her house at around 11 am on Saturday with her five-year-old brother.

The girl’s mother was reportedly ill and was taking rest. When she woke up, the girl was missing and the parents spent the whole of Saturdaylooking for her. A complaint was reportedly filed later in the day at 8pm.

The child’s body had apparently been carried away in a corporation truck and was spotted by a ragpicker who was sifting through the heap that was offloaded.

According to the ToI, preliminary investigation has revealed that the killer had sexually assaulted the child.

Police are reportedly questioning a neighbour in connection with the crime, based on inputs from the child’s parents.
