In a massive fire that broke out at a coaching centre in Gujarat’s Surat on Friday evening, at least seven students were charred to death and several others injured as they tried to jump out from the top floor of the building in a bid to save themselves.
The fire, which broke out on the second floor of a commercial complex in Sarthana area of Surat, soon engulfed the entire top floor of the building. In a video posted on social media, soon after the incident, students could be seen jumping out in an attempt to escape the fire. Some of them were ablaze as they jumped out of the top floor.
The total number of casualties are yet to be ascertained.
