‘Modi again’: TN BJP leaders react to national exit poll predictions

The exits polls for 2019 General Elections have predicted a comfortable win for the DMK-Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu, while the AIADMK-BJP alliance is likely to grab an average of 8 seats. On a national level, this proves otherwise for the BJP-led NDA, which is predicted to win more than 300 seats.

When senior Congress leader P Chidambaram expressed his disappointment over the predictions of the exit polls, alleging that the Election Commission (EC) was sleeping on the job, BJP’s Tamil Nadu State President Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan reacted to this, asking if he was scared.

“When do you plan on surrendering? Rahul and Priyanka go on the pilgrimage only when it is time for elections? And then to Tihar after elections? Are you scared? or power hungry? or desperate?” she tweeted in reply to Chidambaram’s tweet.

Our charge had been that the EC was sleeping on the job. Now, we can go further and say that the EC completely surrendered its independence and authority. Shame!

BJP’s H Raja, too, tweeted that BJP’s victory was now clear after the exit polls.

“The exit polls show the direction. The magnitude will be known on 23rd. But it is now clear BJP will get its own majority. Modi Again,” he tweeted.

He also writes that an increase in voter turnout throughout the country is reflective of people’s desire to avoid a hung parliament. “There’s a question on who benefits from the increased voter turnout throughout the country during this elections. The reason for it is people’s desire to avoid a hung parliament at all costs.”

Other important leaders such as DMK’s MK Stalin, AIADMK’s Edappadi Palaniswamy and O Panneerselvam, AMMK’s TTV Dhinakaran and Makkal Needhi Maiam’s Kamal Haasan have not expressed their thoughts on the exit poll analysis yet.

As for Tamil Nadu, the exit polls have predicted an average of 8 seats for the BJP-AIADMK alliance and 27 for the Congress-DMK alliance. Thanthi TV-Krish Infotech exit polls that gave a constituency-wise breakup in the state also indicated that the DMK-led alliance could enjoy the lead in most constituencies in the state.
