DMK-led alliance to enjoy majority in most constituencies: Thanthi TV exit polls

A constituency-wise exit polls done by Thanthi TV-Krish Infotech was released on Sunday evening and it indicates that the DMK-led alliance could enjoy the lead in most constituencies in the state. It also seems like a close fight between AIADMK-led alliance and the DMK-led alliance in some constituencies, with TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK expected to break up the vote share in a few constituencies in the state.

Of the five constituencies that had BJP candidates, the party is predicted to have an edge in two constituencies – Coimbatore and Ramanathapuram. CP Radhakrishnan from Coimbatore is expected to receive 37-43% votes with DMK-led CPI(M) candidate PR Natarajan registering 35-41% votes.

In Ramanathapuram, Nainar Nagendran of BJP is expected to receive 33-39% votes while Nawaz Kani, IUML candidate backed by DMK, is expected to receive 31-37% votes.

In the two constituencies where the Congress and the BJP are facing off directly, Congress is expected to have the lead. In Sivaganga, Congress is expected to have an edge over BJP with Karthi Chidambaram expected to receive 36-32% votes followed by H Raja at 32-38%. In Kanyakumari, too, Congress is expected to be in the lead with Vasantha Kumar at 40-46% followed by Pon Radhakrishnan at 39-45%.

The constituencies where DMK lead alliance is expected to receive a lead are Central Chennai, North Chennai, Sriperambudhur, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Trichy, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Karur, Erode, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Thenkasi, Nilgiri, Dindigul and Thoothukudi.

The ruling AIADMK alliance is expected to enjoy majority votes in Tiruvallur (39-45%), Krishnagiri (39-45%), Salem (41-47%), Theni (41-47%), Thiruppur (42-48%) and Pollachi (40-46%).

Some of the constituencies where AIADMK alliance and DMK alliance will face a neck and neck and fight with just 1-2% margin are Namakkal (42-48%), Chidambaram (40-46%), Thirunelveli (35-41%), Madurai (34-40%) and Thiruvannamalai (40-46%) with DMK alliance having a slight edge over AIADMK alliance.

Whereas, the AIADMK alliance is expected to have a slight lead over DMK alliance in Arani (40-46%), Coimbatore (37-43%), South Chennai (37-43%), Ramanathapuram (33-39%), Villupuram (41-47%), Arakonam (38-44%),  Pondicherry (36-42%), Dharmapuri (34-40) constituencies.

TTV Dinakaran’s AMMK is expected to get over 10% vote share in the following constituencies: Trichy with 20-26%, Tanjore with 13-19%, Theni with 19-25%, Dharmapuri with 16-22%, Sivagangai with 14-20%, Virudhunagar with 16-22%, Thenkasi with 11-17%, Dindigul with 9-26%, Tirunelveli with 14-20%, Ramanathapuram with 18-24% and Madurai with 16-22%.

Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), while maintaining an average of 3-6% votes in most of the constituencies, its highest is expected to come from South Chennai constituency with its candidate R Rangarajan likely to get 6-12% vote share.

As for Chennai, of its three constituencies in Chennai South, AIADMK candidate J Jayavardhan (37-43%); in Chennai Central, DMK Candidate Dayanidhi Maran (38-44%); and in Chennai North, DMK’s Kalanithi Veerasamy (41-47%) are expected to take the lead.

Their contemporaries in these constituencies, DMK’s Thamizhachi Thangapandian in Chennai South; PMK’s Sam Paul in Chennai Central; and DMDK’s Azhagapuram R Mohanraj in Chennai North; are expected to receive 36-42%, 35-41% and 34-40% votes respectively.
