List of suburban, Southern Railways trains cancelled, modified due to line block

A line block along the Arakkonam – Jolarpettai section of the Southern Railways on the outskirts of Chennai will see the cancellation of suburban trains, and the modifications in schedules of long-distance trains. A press release from the Southern Railways said that a line block and power block is permitted between the Chennai – Chennai Beach section at Chennai Beach and Royapuram yards from 11.30 pm to 03.30 am (four hours) from May 19 to May 22 for machine packing of points and crossovers.

Change of originating / destination station:

Train number 42608 Gummudipundi – Chennai Beach EMU local leaving Gummudipundi at 9.40 pm will be partially cancelled between Korukkupet and Chennai Beach and will instead be diverted to MMC from May 17 to 21.

Train number 43801 Chennai Beach – Arakkonam EMU local leaving Chennai Beach at 01.20 am will leave at 01.25 am from MMC instead of Chennai Beach from May 18 to 22.

Cancellations

According to a report in the Times of India, train number 43251 between MMC-Thiruvallur EMU leaving at 8.55 pm, the Arakkonam local leaving at 9.15 pm, the Tiruvallur local leaving at 9.40 pm, the Arakkonam local leaving at 10.10 pm, the Arakkonam local at 10.45 pm and the Tiruvallur local at 11.10 pm and 11.45 pm have been cancelled for Saturday.

The Tiruvallur-MMC local at 9.55 pm, the Tiruvallur-Avadi local at 10.10 pm, the Tiruttani-MMC local at 9.45 pm, the Arakkonam-MMC local at 9.25 pm and Arakkonam-MMC local at 9.45 pm hours have also been cancelled.

The newspaper also reports that 30 EMU services have been cancelled on Sunday: nine EMU services from Chennai Beach, three from Avadi, two from Arakkonam, one each from Thiruvallur and Ennore towards Avadi, Tiruvallur, Pattabiram Siding, Tiruttani, Kadambattur and Arakkonam have been fully cancelled from 1.20 am to 10.45 am. Trains on the opposite direction too have been cancelled between 3.20 am and 8 am.

Changes o­n May 18, Saturday

Train number 56262, KSR Bengaluru–Arakkonam Passenger, has been partially cancelled between Jolarpettai and Arakkonam. This train will run from KSR Bengaluru to Jolarpettai o­nly. This train will run as passenger special from Jolarpettai to Arakkonam after cancelation of the Line Block.

Train number 12578, Mysuru – Dharbanga Bagmati Express, will be delayed/regulated at Melpatti for about 195 minutes.

Train number 17209 KSR Bengaluru – Kakinada port Shesadhri Express, will also be delayed/regulated at Pachachakupam for about 100 minutes.

Changes on May 19, Sunday

Train number 56262, KSR Bengaluru – Arakkonam Passenger, has been partially cancelled between Jolarpettai–Arakkonam. This train will run from KSR Bengaluru to Jolarpettai o­nly. This train will run as passenger special from Jolarpettai to Arakkonam after cancelation of the Line Block.

Train number 12246, Yesvantpur – Howrah Duronto Express, will be delayed/regulated at Melpatti for about 130 minutes.

Train number 17209, KSR Bengaluru – Kakinada port Shesadhri Express, will be delayed/regulated at Pachachakupam for about 100 minutes.
