UP doesn`t need an `outsider` like PM Narendra Modi: Priyanka Gandhi

Raibareli: Member of Congress’ first family, Priyanka Gandhi, on Friday campaigned for the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance in Raibareli.

Addressing an election rally in Maharajganj, Priyanka trained her guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Referring to his recent statement that he was the adopted son of Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka said that there are enough youth in the state to work for the state.

“The Prime Minister said Uttar Pradesh has adopted me and I will work for the state’s development. But does Uttar Pradesh need to adopt anyone for its development?” she said.

“Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are from here. All youth of the state can become a leader and work for the development of the state, there is no need for an outsider,” Priyanka said.

Priyanka went on to question the track record of the Prime Minister as an MP from Varanasi.

“What has he done for Varanasi in the last three years? nothing,” she said, adding that her father Rajiv Gandhi had developed his constituency Amethi in a way befitting of a PM.

Scoffing at PMModi’s promises to women of the state, Priyanka said that making them stand in queues (demonetisation) was the real atrocity against women.

She also requested the electorate to join hands and help the SP-Congress combine win the elections.
