Governor should ensure no 'horse trading' in AIADMK: MK Stalin

DMK working president MK Stalin on Thursday said the 15 days’ time given to AIADMK’s Edappadi K Palaniswamy to prove his majority would result in horse trading and bargaining by legislators.

Speaking to reporters, Stalin said he welcomes Governor C Vidyasagar Rao’s decision to invite Palaniswamy to form the government.

He added that the 15 days’ time period given to Sasikala’s chosen man Palaniswami to prove his majority “is too long a duration that would lead to horse trading”.

Stalin said the Governor should see to it that horse trading does not happen.

Palaniswamy on Thursday was sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and he will hold the office for now, at least until the Tamil Nadu Speaker convenes the state Assembly and a confidence vote is held.

Earlier on the day, Palaniswamy was sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and he will hold the office until the Tamil Nadu Speaker convenes the state Assembly and a confidence vote is held.

The Governor until Thursday had maintained a tight lip on whom he would invite to form the government for the last ten days.

Until Thursday, the OPS camp had also claimed that more legislators would join them if the representatives were given a choice, and continue to allege that the MLAs in Golden Bay resort in Koovathur were kept there against their will.

After the Supreme Court decided that Sasikala has to serve four-year sentence in the DA case, the AIADMK with Sasikala as its General Secretary elected Palaniswamy as its legislative party leader.
