Man arrested for hiring 2 contract killers

The police on Friday arrested a man who had hired two contract killers to get a financer killed, because of his friends had taken a loan of ₹52 lakh from the financier in February 2018. Police said that the man had paid the killers, one of them a juvenile, ₹35,000 each. The contract killers were arrested a month after the murder.

Police identified the arrested man as Rajender Kale, who hails from Dausa in Rajasthan, who used to live in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar. The police said Kale has previously been involved in case of murder in Ambedkar Nagar, and was out on bail when the murder took place.

According to the police, on February 8, 2018, a 47-year-old financer, Sanjay Chawla, was shot dead near his house in Malviya Nagar. During investigation, police had arrested four men and apprehended a juvenile on March 14 for their role in the murder. However, Rajender Kale, who had hired one of the men and the juvenile, to kill Chawla, remained on the run.

“During interrogation, Kale told us that one Manjot Singh of Malviya Nagar took a loan of ₹52 lakhs from Sanjay Chawla. However, because he was unable to pay the interest, Chawla allegedly used to insult him. Singh, therefore decided to take revenge and sought help of two of his friends, whom he promised ₹5 lakh,” the DCP said.

Naik said, the two men then gave contract to Kale, who further hired two budding criminals Dinesh and a minor boy from Ambedkar Nagar. “On Feb 8, 2018, Dinesh and the juvenile followed Chawla from the office to his residence and stabbed him when he was metres away from his house,” the officer said.
