Man assaulted by inebriated driver at Udyog Vihar signal

A 25-year-old man suffered severe injuries after an inebriated man allegedly thrashed and punched him in his face and hit his car during a road rage incident in Udyog Vihar on Saturday morning, said the police.

Krinesh Jangra, son of a senior leader of Rashtriya Sahara Party and a resident of Dundahera, was at a traffic signal in Udyog Vihar around 10.30am in his Honda car, when a speeding Ertiga car allegedly hit his vehicle from the behind and started honking.

According to the police, the accused then intercepted Jangra’s car and started abusing him. The victim, who was at the wheel, was travelling with his father. When the victim objected and asked the reason for his abuse, the accused picked up a stone lying at the spot and hit him in the face and on his head. The police said he suffered injuries. Meanwhile, the accused fled from the spot,” said Shamsher Singh, assistant commissioner of police (crime).

Singh also said, “The accused tried to snatch the victim’s phone. When he resisted, he pushed him down on the road and even tried to run over him.”

The victim screamed for help and some passersby rushed to his rescue. The victim later called his friends, who took him to a hospital. He complained to the police in the evening. A case under relevant sections was registered at the Udyog Vihar police station, said the police.
