TN class 12 boards results out, Tiruppur tops the list with 95.37% pass percentage

Putting an end to the anxiety-filled days of the students who took their class 12 exams in Tamil Nadu, the Directorate of Government Examinations released the results on Friday. Tiruppur district recorded the highest number of class 12 students who passed the board examinations in the state. The pass percentage of the students in Tiruppur is 95.37%.

As per the results, the overall pass percentage in Class 12 examinations stood at 91.3%, which is slightly higher than the number recorded in 2018. While the pass percentage of girl students stands at 93.64%, the pass percentage for boys is 88.57%. The results declared on Friday involve only those schools in Tamil Nadu which use the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the state government. It does not include CBSE, ICSE and other boards of education.

Erode district recorded the second highest pass percentage in the state with 95.23% of the students passing all the subjects. Perambalur district’s pass percentage at 95.15% grabbed the third spot. With a pass percentage of 92.96%, the capital city of Chennai was 14th among other Tamil Nadu districts. Girls outshone boys here with 95.5% girl students crossing the pass mark compared to 90.05% boys.

As far as the performance of government schools in Tamil Nadu is concerned, Kanyakumari district recorded the highest pass percentage with 92.64% students going past the pass mark. Tiruvallur district recorded 76.14% pass, which is the lowest in the state.

Among the subjects in class 12, the pass percentage for mathematics was the highest at 96.25% and the pass percentage for the commerce paper was the lowest at 91.23%. While boys recorded the highest pass percentage in Home Science paper, girls recorded the highest pass percentage in mathematics.

The pass percentage of candidates with disability stood at 89.1%.

Among 45 adult prisoners who appeared for the board exams this year, 34 made it past the pass mark. In Tamil Nadu, prisoners are given the option to continue their education

The exams for class 12 in Tamil Nadu started on March 1 and ended on March 19. Total number of students who appeared for the examinations is 8,69,423.
