Congress leader Hardik Patel, who has emerged as the party’s star campaigner in Gujarat, was slapped at a public meeting in Surendranagar on Friday.
Video footage show the 25-year-old Patidar leader addressing a rally when a man walks up to him and slaps him. The attacker, who has not been identified yet, was later detained.
Patel, who joined the Congress last month, has been criss-crossing the state in choppers to campaign for party leaders.
