LS poll campaign updates: SP candidate Poonam Sinha, Shatrughan`s wife, files nomination from Lucknow

As India votes in the second phase of Lok Sabha election 2019 on Thursday, April 18, high pitched elections campaigns of political parties will continue across India. 

Lok Sabha election 2019 live updates: Voting begins for Phase 2 across 11 states, 1 UT 

After finishing his public meeting in Gujarat’s Himatnagar in the morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will head to woo voters Karnataka’s Bagalkot and Belgavi in the day and Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram in the evening. BJP national president Amit Shah visit address rallies at Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh and Takhatpur, and Maharashtra’s Aurangabad and Jalna. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will hold rallies West Bengal’s Uluberia and Malda.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will address rallies in UP’s Badaun, Gujarat’s Junagadh and Bhuj. Gujarat West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee will also hold three rallies in Malda’s Samsi, Kaliachal and Pakua. 

Other leaders campaigning on Thursday are TMC’s Abhishek Bannerjee in West Bengal’s Kaliganj, JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar in Bihar’s Khagaria, Jhanjharpur, Supual and Madhepura. 

Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP’s Sushil Modi will also hold rallies in Bihar’s Khagadia, Jhanjharpur, Supual, Madhepura. 

BJP’s Raghubar Das will campaign in Jharkhand’s Gumla and Sisai and lead a foot march to Lohardaga. RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and Hindustani Awam Morcha’s Jitan Ram Manjhi public meeting is scheduled in Jharkhand’s Chatra and Palamu.

* SP candidate Poonam Sinha, Congress leader Shatrughan’s wife, files nomination from Lucknow.

* A case under a section of the Representation of People Act and section 506 of IPC (punishment for criminal intimidation) has been filed against Samajwadi Party candidate from Sambhal for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “SP candidate Shafiqur Rehman Burq had made derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister during an election meeting on April 11,” Circle officer of Chandausi, Poonam Mishra said. In his election meeting address in Kela Devi area on April 11, Burq had allegedly said, “…Yeh gathbandhan PM Modi ke liye maut ka paigaam ban gaya hai (This alliance has become a message of death for PM Modi).” Sambhal goes to polls on April 23. 

* “Development in Mathura is all due to my efforts. SP-BSP are only engaged in fighting with each other. There is a huge Modi wave here,” says Mathura MP and BJP candidate Hema Malini.

* Election Commission’s flying squad has seized Rs 11.85 lakh unaccounted cash in Sion area of Mumbai.

* “Dynasty politics isn’t an important issue now, country’s problems are the main issue. Only because of dynasty politics and regional politics, this country developed in several states. We’re not bothered about criticism from BJP,” says Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy after casting his vote in Ramanagara.

* BJP worker’s body was found hanging from a tree in Senabona village of Purulia district. This is the third such incident in a year in West Bengal.

चुनाव आयोग की पाबंदी का खुला उल्लंघन करके यूपी के सीएम योगी शहर- शहर व मन्दिरों में जाकर एवं दलित के घर बाहर का खाना खाने आदि का ड्रामा करके तथा उसको मीडिया में प्रचारित/प्रसारित करवाके चुनावी लाभ लेने का गलत प्रयास लगातार कर रहे हैं किन्तु आयोग उनके प्रति मेहरबान है, क्यों?

अगर ऐसा ही भेदभाव व बीजेपी नेताओं के प्रति चुनाव आयोग की अनदेखी व गलत मेहरबानी जारी रहेगी तो फिर इस चुनाव का स्वतंत्र व निष्पक्ष होना असंभव है। इन मामलों मे जनता की बेचैनी का समाधान कैसे होगा? बीजेपी नेतृत्व आज भी वैसी ही मनमानी करने पर तुला है जैसा वह अबतक करता आया है, क्यों?

* Akhilesh Yadav to file nomination from Azamgarh on Azamgarh parliamentary on Thursday. He will later address a public meeting in Baitholi village along Azamgarh-Mau highway. 

* Other nominations to be filed today are: Union Minister Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur seat, Samajwadi Party’s Poonam Sinha from Lucknow, rebel RJD leader Ali Ashraf Fatmi from Madhubani and Congress’ Gopal Sahu from Hajaribag.
