Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala said he is ready to contest from Hisar if the party leadership decides.

Addressing the first JJP workers’ meeting in Hisar on Monday, Dushyant said members of other parties are commenting on the ‘chappal’ symbol allotted to them but he thinks it is a positive development. “The chappal represents the common people. We will take this symbol all through the state,” he said.

The JJP leader further said he discussed with his party workers how they can strengthen the booths and ensure their party wins all the Lok Sabha seats in the state. On a question about alliance, Chautala said the core committee will take a decision on it. “I am not a member of the core committee, so I will not be able to say anything about the alliance. The committee’s decision will be final,” said Dushyant.

Taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who are using the suffix ‘chowkidar’ before their names, Dushyant said, “Haryana had to witness violence several times; why did such chowkidars fail to maintain law and order then.” He further said the saffron party leaders are using the suffix chowkidar, but they failed to provide cycle and torch to the original chowkidars (watchmen) during the last four and half years of their rule.

Commenting on the tweet in which he tagged the Haryana chief electoral officer about the state government painting tankers purchased under the MPLAD scheme in Hisar, Dushyant said he will soon address a press conference in this regard and lodge an FIR against those who painted the water tankers.

Hisar deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Meena said, “Water tankers are movable assets and hence the tankers, bearing the MP’s name, were painted after the poll code was imposed. The same will be done for all parties.”
