The BCCI’S Committee of Administrators’ (CoA) chief Vinod Rai on Friday said they have not taken any decision, so far, regarding the India-Pakistan match to be played during the ICC Cricket World Cup on June 16.

In a meeting to address the spiralling speculation around the match, the CoA deliberated on the matter but did not take any position for now.

“No decision has been taken yet on India’s World Cup match against Pakistan, Rai said.

“We will express our concerns to ICC. We are in talks with government on the scheduled India-Pakistan clash in World Cup, Rai added,

There were reports that the CoA and the BCCI might approach the ICC seeking Pakistan’s ouster from the mega-event in England that starts on May 30.

However, even such a move is unlikely to make any difference as there is no provision in the world body’s regulations that allow one member to seek the ouster of another.

Calls have grown to boycott the 2019 ICC World Cup match between India and Pakistan following the killing of over 40 CRPF Jawans in Pulwama last week.

While former India spinner Harbhajan Singh and former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin have called for a complete cricketing boycott against Pakistan, Sunil Gavaskar was of the view that India stand to lose by boycotting Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup.

“Who wins if India decide against playing Pakistan in the World Cup? And I am not even talking about the semis and the finals. Who wins? Pakistan win because they get two points,” Gavaskar told India Today on Thursday.

“India have so far beaten Pakistan every time in a World Cup, so we are actually conceding two points when by beating Pakistan, we could make sure that they don’t advance in the competition.

“(But) I am with the country, whatever the government decides, I am with it totally. If the country wants we shouldn’t play Pakistan, I am with them,” he added.

Gavaskar, however, said that the country can continue to ‘hurt Pakistan’ by shunning bilateral ties.
