AIADMK MLAs from Sasikala camp land in Delhi, to meet President today

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham (AIADMK) members have landed in the national capital to knock at the door of President Pranab Mukherjee in order to seek his intervention for bringing political stability in the state. They will meet him on Thursday.

The politics of the state on Tuesday witnessed a turn of events with incumbent chief minister O Pannerselvam staging a major revolt against party legislative leader VK Sasikala.

Pannerselvam said he was forced to resign from the chief minister post by the Sasikala camp which was, however, later denied by the AIADMK general secretary.

Meanwhile, after consulting some of her party colleagues and ministers at the Poes Garden residence, Sasikala announced the removal of Pannerselvam from the AIADMK treasurer post.

Reacting to his removal, Pannerselvam said that the party treasurer post was entrusted to him by late Jayalalithaa and he cannot be removed by any one.

Pannerselvam, in a surprise move on Tuesday night, went to the burial site of Jayalalithaa at Marina Beach and told the media that after her demise, he was forced to appoint Sasikala as legislative party leader.

He also said he is ready to take back his resignation from the post of chief minister if the party cadres and the public want him to do so.

Governor Vidyasagar Rao has accepted the resignation by Pannerselvam. He, however, asked him and his Cabinet to continue to continue their duties till alternate arrangements are made.
