Tamil Rockers leaks Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Seethakaathi’ a day after its release

Tamil Rockers has done it again. Vijay Sethupathi’s latest movie, Seethakaathi, which released on Thursday, was leaked online by the notorious piracy website, despite the Madras High Court’s order to block over 12,000 websites that host pirated versions of movies. Before Seethakaathi, the website also leaked Mohanlal’s Odiyan and Hollywood movie Aquaman which had hit the screens early last week.

The makers of the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0, Lyca Productions, had moved a plea in the Madras High Court before the release of the movie, producing a list of 12,564 illegal websites. A ban on Tamil Rockers would block around 2,000 websites operated by the website. Lyca’s counsel Vijayan Subramaniam contended that even if Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block access to Tamil Rockers, the website immediately creates mirror websites that continue to stream pirated versions of movies. Lyca had sought an injunction against all such websites in the court. Despite the plea, Tamil Rockers had managed to leak 2.0 three days after the movie released worldwide.

Seethakaathi was released on December 20 and stars Vijay Sethupathi, Ramya Nambeesan and Rajkumar in prominent roles. The film, whichnarrates the story of an actor in his late 80s and is touted to be a satire on cinema, also has Gayathrie in the star cast with veteran director J Mahendran playing the villain. Seethakaathi is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan who had helmed the hit movie Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom, which also had Vijay in the lead role.

Vijay Sethupathi has sported heavy prosthetic make-up to carry off his look as Ayya Aadhimoolam in the movie. Hollywood technician Kevin Haney was roped in to design Vijay’s look.

Govind Vasantha has composed the tunes for this flick with Saraskanth TK doing the cinematography and R Govindaraj roped in for editing.Seethakaathi is bankrolled by Sudhan Sundaram, Umesh G, Jayaram and Arun Vaidyanathan under the banner Passion Studios.
