President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the nation on the eve of Independence Day on Tuesday .
The address is being broadcast from 7:00pm on all networks of the All India Radio (AIR) and telecast on Doordarshan channels, a statement by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
In last year’s speech, the President had laid down markers for a New India, one that would be compassionate towards the disadvantaged and would not discriminate on the basis of gender or religion. He had also highlighted steps undertaken by the Modi government to improve the economy and fight corruption, and hailed citizens for their contribution.
