Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra has urged all members of Parliament to join hands to pass the Triple Talaq Bill to ensure a better future for Muslim women in the country. Referring to a recent fatwa issued against Nida Khan, who had challenged the triple talaq given to her in the court of law, the Rajya Sabha member said that he feared that the Muslim community would further get alienated.
तीन तलाक़ पीड़िता निदा खान को इस्लाम से बेदख़ल कर फ़तवा जारी कर लोगों को उनसे न मिलने का, न बात करने का, वह बीमार हो जाए तो न ही दवाई देने का तुगलकी फ़रमान दिया गया। अभी ये हाल है और कुछ लोग शरिया कोर्ट की पैरवी कर रहे हैं। तब फिर क्या होगा?

जिस इमाम ने निदा को इस्लाम से निकाल बाहर करने का फ़तवा दिया है, देश के समझदार मुस्लिमों को आगे आकर ऐसी नाजायज़ बातों को रोकना चाहिए। क्या हम सभ्य समाज में किसी महिला पर इस प्रकार के विचारों को अनुमति दे सकते हैं?

मेरा सभी साथी सांसदों से अनुरोध है ख़ासकर उनसे, जो ख़ुद को मुस्लिम समाज का ठेकेदार बताते हैं कि एक मत होकर तीन तलाक़ जैसी असामाजिक प्रथा को भारत देश से निकाल फेंकें ताकि हमारी मुस्लिम बहनों, बेटियों का भविष्य बेहतर बन सके।

कल दो दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटनाएं हुई, एक अग्निवेश जी पर हमले की, और एक तीन तलाक़ की याचिकाकर्ता के साथ मारपीट की। अग्निवेश जी पर हमले की निंदा कर सभी तथाकथित बुद्धिजीवी उनके बचाव में आ गए। सही है, पर यही लोग याचिकाकर्ता पर हुए हमले पर चुप है यह आश्चर्य की बात है।

While pointing that the fatwa against Nida Khan called for a total boycott, and even asked people to not help her when she is ill, Subhash Chandra raised concerns over the situation that would prevail if Shariat court is in place.
“Members of Muslim community who are intelligent should come out and oppose the Imam who issued fatwa against Nida. Can we allow such thoughts about a woman in a civilised society?” asked the Rajya Sabha member.
He further referred to two incidents that took place on Tuesday – attack on Swami Agnivesh in Jharkhand and scuffle with a petitioner against triple talaq. He said that several intellectuals came out in support of Swami Agnivesh, but questioned their silence over the attack on the petitioner.
