BJP slams AAP's mohalla clinic success claims

Slamming the AAP government, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari today claimed the moment former Secretary-General of United Nations Kofi Annan gets to know about ground realities at mohalla clinics, he will recall the letter of appreciation from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Kejriwal showed the dream of 1,000 mohalla clinics but in two years, hardly 110 have come up and reality check reveals that many of these clinics have remained closed, Tiwari alleged.

In a letter recently sent to the Delhi Chief Minister, Annan had commended the government’s flagship Mohalla Clinic project that is aimed at providing free primary healthcare to the residents of the national capital.

“Instead of doctors, untrained paramedical staff distributes medicines to the people at mohalla clinics and medical tests happen mostly on paper.

“The truth is that most of these clinics were opened in homes of the ruling party workers and today they are just a source of income for AAP volunteers. Meanwhile, most of the original Delhi Government Dispensaries have been closed or renamed as Mohalla Clinics,” Tiwari said in a statement.

Annan might have appreciated the concept of Mohalla Clinic as shown on paper, the BJP leader claimed.

“The truth is, the moment he will get to know about the ground realities like missing doctors, paramedical staff distributing medicines with short expiry time left and no medical tests facilities, Annan will recall the letter of appreciation from the Kejriwal government,” Tiwari claimed.

Asserting that mohalla clinic is an “ideal scheme” and keeping politics aside it needs to be appreciated, Tiwari alleged that Kejriwal “never had the intent to serve the people through these” and he just wanted to reap political benefit.
