A couple drowned in the Indira Gandhi Canal today in Bikaner district in Rajasthan.
The deceased were identified as Bhanti (20) and Arjun Ram (23), residents of Nahruwali Dhani in Sriganganagar district, said SHO Mahajan police station, Majid Khan.
He said that Bhanti had slipped into the canal while fetching water from it. To save his wife, Arjun also jumped.
However, he also drowned along with her.
Police said the bodies were fished out by professional divers and sent for post-mortem before handing it to their family members.
