Former Karanataka CM SM Krishna quits Congress

In a sudden development, veteran Congress leader SM Krishna has quit the party, reports ANI. He has sent his resignation from Congress Working Committee and the party too. It remains to be seen if Sonia Gandhi accepts his resignation or not.

SM Krishna was the Karnataka CM from 1999 to 2004. He was the External affairs Minister in the Manmohan Singh government serving in the role for three years from 2009 to 2012. 84-year-old SM Krishna wanted a second innings back in Karnataka state politics but was somehow relegated to the sidelines. His abrupt retirement from active politics is perhaps a reflection of his falling stock inside the state Congress machinery.
