At a time when CPIM’s students wing, Students Federation of India (SFI) is losing its grip across most institutions of West Bengal, it managed to break the trend in prestigious Jadavpur University (JU). It has won all four seats in the Arts department. Independent student bodies won in the Science and Engineering department.
SFI won all four seats with a thumping victory in the Arts Faculty Students’ Union. Independent Student’s body (WTI) won the elections in the Science Department.
Democratic Students’ Forum (DSF) continued its winning tradition in the Engineering Department. It has now won for the 40th consecutive time at a stretch.
Trinamool Congress’ students union TMCP has managed to wield influence in educational institutions across the state but so far it has failed to manage any breakthrough in JU. It increased its voteshare in the Arts department this year but failed to win a single seat.
