At least two people killed and 26 were injured when 15 coaches of the Ajmer-Sealdah express train derailed near Rura railway station in Kanpur Dehat district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at 5:20 am.
Fourteen coaches of the train, 12987 Ajmer-Sealdah express, derailed when it was crossing a bridge over a dry canal in the area, Northern Central Railways PRO Amit Malviya said.
Reports suggest that the mishap took place due to foggy weather.
A thorough probe will be conducted once the rescue operations are over.
