Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said that thorough investigation will be carried out after several passengers were injured in Ajmer-Sealdah express derailment.
At least 15 coaches of the train derailed near Rura railway station in Kanpur Dehat district.
Taking to micro-blogging site, in a series of tweets, Prabhu said, “Personally monitoring the situation in wake of unfortunate derailment of Sealdah-Ajmer express near Kanpur. Have directed senior officials to reach the site immediately.”
The minister said that immediate medical help and necessary assistance is being provided to the injured and passengers to ensure least inconvenience.
Stating that thorough investigation will be carried out to ascertain the cause, Prabhu said, “Ex-gratia will be paid to injured. We are making alternate arrangements for passengers to continue with their onward journey.”
