Union Budget 2018 Introduces Measure For Education Sector; Here Are 5 Highlights

As announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during his Budget 2018 speech, the government plans “to treat education holistically with integration of class 2 to class 12”

While presenting the Union Budget for 2018-2019, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a slew of measures to be undertaken in the education sector. The focus of the education budget, said Jaitley, was on using digital technology for enhancing the scope of the sector. These are the key highlights from the Budget speech:

* An ‘Integrated BEd’ program will be started soon, with teachers training as the main focus

* Rs. 1 lakh crore to be invested over the next 4 years for a new drive to boost Research and Development

* Tech to be biggest driver in education sector with increased digital intensity and a mission to move from Black board to digital boards

* Government to set up special Railway University at Vadodara, Gujarat
