Child Kidnapped for One Crore Rescued, Kidnappers Made Seven Ransom Calls

New Delhi: A 12-year-old boy, who was kidnapped by two persons in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar area, has been rescued by the Police. The kidnapping took place on Sunday when the boy was returning from his tuitions along with his sister.

Two persons approached the boy on his way back to home and asked him the address of his uncle. The child went with the two men to show them the house but never came back.

The family looked for the boy and informed the police about the missing child. On Monday, the family received a ransom call where the kidnappers asked for one Rs 1 crore.

Police took up the investigation and started following the leads. On the basis of the call details record (CDR), the location of the kidnappers was found to be in Panipat.

They were constantly changing their location. After the ransom call, all the nearby districts were informed and asked to be on alert.

The kidnappers made a total of seven ransom calls. Two calls were made from Panipat and rest five were made from Delhi. They were using the same phone number which made the job of police easier. It also gave a hint that they are not professional kidnappers, said a police personnel.

A policeman, while patrolling, saw two people with a child in a park. Sensing their suspicious moves he alerted the police station. The two persons were nabbed and asked about their whereabouts.

During the interrogation, one of them confessed to kidnapping the child. The police rescued the kidnapped child. The two accused have been identified as Tariq and Danish.

“Tariq works in the kidnapped child’s father’s factory in Gokulpuri area. The other accused Danish earlier used to work at the child’s father’s factory. He was later employed at a factory in Vishwas Nagar,” said Joint CP Ravindra Yadav.

When asked about the motive of kidnapping and when did they decide to kidnap the child, they broke down and said it was someone else’s plan which they were executing.

The plan was hatched by child’s first cousin, Mohsin. In greed to earn more and easy money, Mohsin plotted the kidnapping of his younger cousin.

“Since the beginning, it looked like an outcome of a person enmity but we weren’t sure. Now that the accused have confessed, we are looking for main accused who is still at large,” said a senior police officer.

Main accused Mohsin is the mastermind of this kidnapping. He is on the run since the day he got to know about the arrest of his two accomplices. Police said they have received some inputs and they are working on that.
