Sexual Assault, Rioting, Murder… Meet Karni Sena Leaders Waging War to Save Rajput Women’s Honour

New Delhi: A CNN-News18 investigation has revealed that leaders of Karni Sena, who are at the forefront of saving the pride of Rajput women, are facing serious criminal charges such as sexual assault, kidnapping, rioting, murder, among others.

Even after Supreme Court okayed the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, the Karni Sena has been dead opposed against the screening of the movie as it alleges it violates the honour of its revered Rani Padmavati and Rajput women at large.

But who are these people and what is their background? The documents accessed by in CNN-NEWS18 has accessed documents to show how all the three top leaders of all the three Karni Senas of Rajasthan are history sheeters.

The three leaders are: Sukhdev Singh Gogamedhi, Mahipal Singh Makrana, and Ajit Singh Mamdoli.

Records show that while rioting comes naturally to them, they don’t fare too well in respecting women either.

Two of the three leaders are facing trials for crime against women. Murder and attempt to murder charges are levelled against them as well. Tragically, it is such men who are leading the protest to protect the honour of Rajput women.

Here are the details of their criminal past:

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedhi, Chief, Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena

*He has 21 cases registered against him

*Of the 21, seven are serious offences

*He was convicted in a murder case in 2003

*He was convicted under arms act in 2013

*He is facing trial in a case of Sexual Assault since 2016

Mahipal Singh Makrana

*In 2017 he was booked for attempt to murder and rioting. He was also charged under various section of the IPC which are: 147(rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 307(attempt to murder), 332(voluntarily causing hurt to public servant), 452 (house tresspass for assault), 379 (theft) and three other cases under PDPP act (JAIPUR CBCID)

*In 2017 he was also booked for sexually harassing a woman, kidnapping women for forced marriage, wrongful confinement and attempt to murder.

Ajit Singh Mamdoli

*In 2010, he was booked under IPC sections including 188, 147(rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon, 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) by Jaipur police.

*In 2011, he was booked under for rioting
