The new curriculum or syllabus will give weightage to lab assignments and practicals and include mandatory internship of engineering students in industrial set up which will enable them to understand the needs of industry better at an elementary stage.
The MHRD and AICTE have asked the affiliated Universities and Institutions to constitute consultation committees and incorporate the revised curriculum at the earliest.
The new curriculum or syllabus is practical focused and will give weightage to lab assignments and practicals apart from theoretical knowledge only. The AICTE event was attended by Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar. “I am very happy to be at @AICTE_INDIA as it has come out with comprehensive Model Curriculum document,” Javadekar tweeted while posing with the revised Model Curriculum developed by the All India Council for Technical Education.

The inclusion of mandatory Industrial internship is aimed at honing the practical skills of engineering students and making them job ready and practically skilled. Engineering students will be required to do 2-3 months of internship to make them industry-ready. Although Javadekar insisted on Social Internship along with Industrial, however, whether the former will be made mandatory or not, is not clear as yet.
The MHRD and AICTE have asked the affiliated Universities and Institutions to constitute consultation committees and incorporate the revised curriculum at the earliest. Engineering students and aspirants must keep a close watch on the official website of AICTE to review the Revised Curriculum and understand what it entails for them.
