RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to Hoist Flag at a School in Palakkad

On August 15, 2017, the district administration had issued a circular to the Karnakiamman School in Palakkad stating that only elected representatives or heads of the institute can hoist the flag.

Palakkad: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will hoist the national flag as part of the Republic Day celebrations at the Vyasa Vidya Peethom School at Palakkad in Kerala.

He is in Palakkad as part of a three day RSS camp. The flag will be hosted at 9 am. The camp is held in the premises of the school. He will be in Palakkad until 28.

On January 17, the state government had issued a circular on how to celebrate Republic Day and stated that in all public offices, schools and colleges national flag should be hoisted by the head of departments.

But later the CMO clarified that this is applicable only for schools coming under the Directorate of Public Instruction, the school where Mohan Bhagwat is hoisting the flag does not come under this as it is a private management school affiliated to the CBSE.

During last Independence Day also there was politics played out over the hoisting of the national flag by the RSS chief.

On August 15, 2017, the district administration had issued a circular to the Karnakiamman School in Palakkad stating that only elected representatives or heads of the institute can hoist the flag. Defying this order, the RSS chief had hoisted the flag during Independence Day.

The enquiry by the education department is still going on against the school. The Karnakiamman School was an aided school coming under the state government.
