New Delhi: If Nitish Kumar were to sing the famous John Lenon song, the lyrics would be slightly different. It would be something like, “Imagine there’s no alcohol…It’s easy if you try…”
“You may say I’m a dreamer… But I’m not the only one… I hope some day you’ll join us… And the world will be as one,” this could in fact become the Bihar Chief Minister’s slogan for his next election campaign.
Kumar has a dream. After banning alcohol in his state, he now wants all the other states to follow. On Sunday, the CM pitched for a nationwide ban on alcohol, and asked party activists to raise awareness among people about the ill effects of liquor consumption. “When Gujarat could implement liquor ban, Bihar could show that it could also be banned in the state, why it cannot be banned in the entire country?” Kumar said addressing a party event.
We don’t know if the CMs of other states took Kumar seriously, but Twitter definitely did.
Soon after Kumar’s words, Twitter started a hashtag–#IfAlcoholWereBanned. People on Twitter are trying to imagine a country where alcohol is banned and predicting how life would be like.

Yes, there will be no case of drunk texting anymore, weddings will become boring and Honey Singh will run out of lyrics. And, John Lennon would surely not be happy with Nitish Kumar’s dream.
