UP elections 2017: 287 vehicles challaned, 500 booked for violation of poll code

Kanpur police has challaned 287 vehicles here for unauthorised blue beacons and registered cases against 500 people including leaders and workers of many political parties, for violation of Model Code of Conduct.

According to Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sanjay Chauhan, black films have been removed from around 4000 vehicles, under checking campaign by police since January 4.

Chauhan has said that if more than three cases under violation of Model Code are registered under a candidate, the Returning Officer has the right to appeal for cancelling his/her candidature.

The ADM said that checking of vehicles will be done till UP Assembly elections, beginning February 4.
