Heartbreaking: Man loses pregnant wife in road accident; shares emotional post on the need for road safety

A Chennai man has shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook after he lost his pregnant wife in an accident. Karthick KV, the man who wrote the post, also stressed on the importance of road safety.

In his post, dated January 16, Karthick said that he and his wife had been married for five months, after dating for nine years. His wife, Uma was four months pregnant when the accident took place. The two were riding on the morning of January 7 when Uma, who was riding pillion, fell off the bike and met with a head injury. She wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Uma was immediately taken to a local hospital and then to Apollo, where she was put on life support. But on January 12, the unborn child was announced dead and a day later, Uma succumbed to her injuries.

The couple had decided to donate their organs in case of an unfortunate event. Little did Karthick know, the day would come so soon. However, the doctors couldn’t stabilise her body to be able to donate organs.

Karthick also stressed on the importance of road safety. “Safety measures should be taken whenever you drive. I was wearing a helmet, but did not buy one for my wife. Get a helmet for the pillion rider, as it costs much less than a life. Remember, safety always comes first,” he wrote.

Karthick also urged people to share the post with the people they love and care about because nobody should go through a situation like this. Since then, the post has been circulated over 10,000 times.
