Actor Vishal’s production house in Chennai raided by GST Intelligence Agency

A team of the GST Intelligence Agency conducted raids at the office of Vishal Film Factory, the production house owned by actor and President of Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council Vishal.

The raid started after 2 pm at the premises of the Vadapalani office of the production house. The raid by the GSTI according to reports is to find out if there was any evasion of GST amount paid  by the  production house.

Tamil channels reported that, on request of GSTI, Vishal has provided all necessary documents. The GST Intelligence agency is tasked with checking evasion of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Vishal is the Secretary of the Nadigar Sangam and the President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council. Vishal Film Factory, set up in 2013, has produced six films including Kathakali, Naan Sigappu Manithan and Aambala, all movies in which Vishal himself was the lead actor.

Vishal was recently in the news for two reasons: Firstly, he announced a reward for tracking down the admins of Tamil Rockers – a website that uploads pirated copies of newly released Tamil films. Most recently, Vishal also called out Tamil Nadu BJP leader H Raja for saying that he watched parts of Vijay starrer Mersal, online.

This is a developing story.
