Kashmiri actress Zaira Wasim apologized on Monday for meeting Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti after she was trolled for it in social media.
“Forgive me, I am just sixteen… I want to apologize to all those people who I have unintentionally hurt. People have been hurt by who I meet,” she said.
The actress has come into the limelight following her role in the hit Amir Khan-starrer wrestling drama ‘Dangal’. Wasim played the younger version of wrestler Geeta Phogat.
Following her meeting with Mufti, Wasim was trolled online by people who blamed Mufti was for unrest in the state and demanded she apologise for her actions.
I’m being projected as a role model for Kashmiri youth…I don’t want anyone to follow my footsteps. I am not proud of what I am doing,” she said.
Wasim is slated to be seen next in Amir Khan’s next production ‘Secret Superstar’ in which she plays a Muslim girl who wears a burqa to hide her identity because her father is against her pursuing music and becomes a YouTube singing sensation.
