In a tragic incident, a boat capsized in the Ganga river near Patna, Bihar. The boat was reportedly carrying 40 people. According to ANI, 18 people died in the incident. According to reports, the accident took place when the boat, carrying at least 34 people, was about to reach the river bank. The boat was returning from a kite festival on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Meanwhile, the state police have launched a search operation for the missing people.
According to a report in NDTV, the vessel was overcrowded and capsized not very far from the shore. CM Nitish Kumar has ordered a probe.
