Mumbai: Bakery owner held for sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl

The Sakinaka police on Wednesday arrested a bakery shop owner for allegedly sexually assaulting an unconscious class 6 student at his bakery shop.

According to a complaint filed by the victim’s parents, the bakery owner, identified as Mohammad Sadik Ansari, had called the victim to his shop on January 6 and had told her to smell some chloroform. After this, when the victim was unconscious, he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The parents allege that the accused also threatened to kill their daughter if she told anyone about the incident.

Later, when the accused called her to his shop again, the girl ran home and narrated the incident to her mother after which the parents approached Sakinaka Police Station and lodged the complaint.

“We have registered the case as per facts stated by victim in presence of her mother. Medical evidence have also been collected. We have invoke the provisions of POCSO Act and relevant section of Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on,” said A Dharmadhikari, Senior Police Inspector at Sakinaka Police Station.
