‘We have a climax that no viewer will be able to guess’

Debutant director Azhagu Raj has placed his faith on a road subject in his upcoming Rajavin Paarvai Raniyin Pakkam which is set for release next week. The film, whose title is based on the famous MGR song in Anbe Vaa, is a breezy offering, assures the director.

“I’ve tried my best to make it as entertaining as the original MGR film made by the late AC Thirulokachander. Keeping things simple has always been my mantra,” he says. “The story is narrated in a flashback when a young man is left high and dry by his beloved. He finds help when a friend suggests a last-minute idea to get back the relationship.”

Rajavin… is a love story with a tense climax, says Raj. “The team  of friends go on a journey to Pollachi to stop the marriage of the girl scheduled the following morning. Whether they succeed or not is the climax,” he says. That such a story is cliched isn’t lost on the director. “But we have written a climax that audiences would never be able to guess,” he says.

He has chosen two relatively new actors. While Adharva, the male lead, is a debutant, Avanthika who plays the female lead is two films old. “I took my time to find them. We wanted to find somebody who could talk Tamil right. The actors fit the bill. I’ve treated the film with a lot of humour, but at the same time, realism does not take a back seat,” he says.
The director believes that the USP of the film is its pace. “I’ve tried hard to ensure that there are no dull moments throughout the story.”
